Dress the Dress: Shayla

Monday, November 24th, 2008 | Dress the Dress | No Comments

Discover…dressing the dress for Shayla. Shayla is a medical doctor who is getting married in Las Vegas.  She describes her outdoor wedding as elegant chic.  Her gown as featured below has several lovely details.  I would choose the “Vezelay” comb whose detailing complements the embroidery of the bodice.  This comb works well as a side piece or placed at the back.  Shayla plans to wear her hair up so a nice pair of dangle earrings would be perfect.  I love the “Sandusky” earrings for her gown because its shape resembles the bustle of her train.  The cost of these accessories is $1080 (Headpiece Convertible comb $861, Earrings $219) which places Shayla well within her $1200 accessory budget.  We welcome all brides to submit pictures of their gowns along with their accessory budget to info@christinagarciabridal.com if they wish to participate in Dress the Dress.  Indulge!

Pretty in Peacock

Sunday, November 16th, 2008 | Products and Collections, Trends | No Comments

Discover…filigreed peacock feathers. One source of inspiration for this season’s collection was the peacock feather. I love its shape and composition and therefore, sought to reinterpret nature’s work of art in terms of bridal. To do this, we used our very own lace-filigreed sterling silver embellished with cultured pearls and Swarovski crystals. The end result: stunning. Indulge!

This comb is detachable so you can wear the decorative portion also as a brooch.

This pretty silver hairpin features pearls hand-sewn through the peacock feathers in intricate fashion.

This delicate brooch is made by hand so no two are exactly alike. A piece of art that may take a single artisan a week’s worth of work to create.

Crazy About Cuffs

Wednesday, November 12th, 2008 | Products and Collections, Trends | No Comments

Discover…cuff bracelets. One classy way to accessorize your dress is to have nothing more than a pair of earrings and a beautiful cuff bracelet. Cuff bracelets are definite statement pieces in and of themselves. Each season, we create two to three exquisite cuffs to add to our already extensive collection. These masterpieces retail from $450 and up. Each one is crafted by hand in sterling silver using genuine cultured pearls and Swarovski crystals. View our website (under Collections -> Jewelry -> Bracelets) to explore the different designs. Indulge!

So meticulously detailed…one of my favorite cuffs this season…

Discover…the art of accessorizing. I just thought of a great new section that could help you create that perfect look to best complement your gown. I will call this section “Dress the Dress.” If you have already found the gown of your dreams but have not yet thought about your accessories (headpieces, veils, jewelry), I would be very happy to help you put a look together. Please email a picture of your gown to info@christinagarciabridal.com together with a brief description of your wedding (traditional, garden, destination, etc) and your accessories budget. I will do my best to come up with something that will suit your dress, your style and your budget. This will be published in storyboard format on this blog. Look of the Month: November

Discover…November’s look of the month. Creating your look is just as important as choosing your dress. So, each month, I feature fabulous and luxurious looks that will give you ideas to help you look your best on that one special day. For November, three brides from three different states have submitted pictures of how they wore their Christina Garcia pieces. I describe their look as timeless classic meets ultra-chic. Very clean and traditional yet very modern-artsy.  Lea of NJ and Kate of WI both wore cascading hair vines featuring authentic mother of pearl, cultured pearls, Swarovski crystals on sterling silver. Amanda of ND wore the pin version of the cascading vines and came up with the same creative effect. The best thing about this look is its versatility. It can add to the drama of a traditional wedding. Yet it can also bring an element of fun to a destination wedding. I will venture to say that these three brides from three different states may have just started a trend. Very chic. Very unique. Indulge!
